ISO Certification

Achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification is a major accomplishment. Having been certified in 2006, it remains a standard of ProTranslating’s company-wide commitment to delivering excellent service and quality. Each employee pledges to follow our proven procedures, ensuring that all end products fall under the control of a system that we have fine-tuned over the course of more than three decades. Our Quality Management System controls every aspect of production, from hiring the talent who work on your projects, to delivering the final product in the format of your choice. In an industry where quality hinges on each and every word, ISO Certification is synonymous with peace of mind.

Our ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System guarantees the following:

Standardized Quality: All of our processes are audited by BSI, the largest certifying body of ISO, ensuring that our end product always meets the highest standards.

Continuous Improvement: ISO certification has created an environment where improvement is built into our standard operating procedures. As part of our commitment to quality, we refine and measure the effectiveness of our processes to meet the changing needs of our clients.

PLC Certification Program

The ProTranslating Linguist Certification (PLC) program is our way of making sure that only the best and most-qualified linguists join our team. The certification process ensures that only candidates with proven track records in foreign language translation (e.g., members of the American Translators Association) and advanced academic credentials are retained.

Fewer than 10% of applicants pass our certification program.

3 Stages of ProTranslating Linguist Certification

  1. Minimum requirements:
    • Native Fluency: Candidate must have native fluency in the target language.
    • Education: College degree in translation or interpretation, or a college degree in area of specialization.
    • Samples: Samples of previous work in language or area of specialization.
    • References: Candidate must provide 2-3 references.
  2. Language Test
    • Our language tests are created and checked by our linguists (Translators, Editors, QC Specialists, Proofreaders).
    • Tests are administered on-site to ensure timeliness and validity.
    • Several tests, covering 50+ subject areas, are used, depending on area of specialization and language combination being tested.
  3. Interview
    • Becoming a member of the ProTranslating family hinges upon approval by the existing team of linguists.
    • ProTranslating uses a team-based approach to translation that relies heavily on chemistry and cohesiveness, hence the importance of the interview process.
