We Are

OVERVIEW    |    The Heart of the Matter

We’re a team of passionate, fully-vested linguists: great translations and great service define our purpose. From our start, our founder was obsessed with words—DNA inherited from his great-grandfather who established Cuba’s first language school—and in creating Protranslating, he surrounded himself with like-minded thinkers.

Today, we’re a major player in the language space, translating over 150 million words per year, with over 500 people touching product on a daily basis,

and state of the art facilities headquartered in Miami.  (If you’re wondering, all the pictures on this site were taken at our offices using only our team. No stock photography or actors allowed: we’re all about being genuine!).

But although Protranslating provides a full spectrum of services in more than 200 languages to organizations across the globe, accessing sophisticated technologies and tight quality procedures, we’ve never lost sight of who we are.

We’re Protranslating. Passionate linguists with old-school values
who always put you, our client, first. Always.

MISSION    |    First in Service

To own service within the language space, providing a proprietary customer service platform which builds on a passionate team, time-tested processes, and cutting-edge technologies to derive client insights and solutions, delivering world class translations that move people.

A natural born linguist, fluent in nine languages, Dr. Luis de la Vega has had a passion for languages since his early childhood in Havana, Cuba. He is a native Spanish speaker who by the age of 12, had taught himself French and German. Like many other Cuban children at the time of the revolution, his parents sent him to live with family in Miami, FL at the age of 14. Having attended an American school in Cuba, he had learned English as a child and once he arrived in the US, his love for language only continued to grow. He was a frequent visitor of the local library where he’d check out books in Russian, German, Italian, and French for some extracurricular fun!

Luis R. de la Vega oversees the agency’s strategic direction. Luis has been involved in the business since his early childhood, spending many summers running the hallways while his parents were at work. Growing up as part of the Protranslating family, he has worn many hats over the years and in early 2015 was appointed CEO. As CEO, Luis is passionate about driving efficiency, building a long-term sustainable business, and satisfying the personal and professional goals of Protranslating’s stakeholders. Over the course of the last ten years, he has led the company to adopt growth.

Prior to transitioning into the localization industry and joining Protranslating, Colin served as manager for several advertising firms including Publicis Sanchez & Levitan, Bromley Communication, and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. His years in the advertising world helped shape a skill set that has blended.

Matthew Rodano joined Protranslating in May 2016 as Vice President of Strategic Alliances and oversees our strategic accounts, as well as strategic partnerships with emerging technologies and innovations. He is a results oriented, industry leader with 20 exceptional years of experience in client relationship management, translation governance solutions, and business development expertise. Matthew was introduced to the Language Services Industry in 1994 with an entry-level, business developer manager position at TransPerfect Translations. Founding Story

In 1973, when we began knocking on the doors of judges and attorneys while looking for our first interpreting work, we had no idea we were about to build one of the world’s most authentic and impactful language companies.

We started small, but aimed high, and more than 40 years later the values that earned us our first engagement continue to propel our growth today.

We invite you to get to know us.

Culture is Our Currency

People are the heart of our magic. Our linguists, word-craft artists, have an inspired connection to language, along with a visceral ability to sense and capture even the most elusive of communication nuances. For all our people, from interpreters to our multimedia team, language is a life passion. It reflects in everything we do, elevating us to deliver in extreme circumstances and for the most discerning markets.

Vintage values underpin how we relate to our clients, approach our work,
